Musicians of the Brass Consortium are members of the Toe River Chamber Ensemble, a community orchestra located in Burnsville, NC. They, like other members of TRCE, come from several towns in Western North Carolina including Burnsville, Spruce Pine, and Weaverville. Members volunteer their time and talent to provide free live classical music concerts to the communities of Avery, Buncombe, Madison, Mitchell, and Yancey counties. The Brass Consortium's repertoire includes works spanning six centuries from every Classical Music Period, from the Renaissance to Modern art music. Works including those of Palestrina, Gabrieli, Bach, Handel, Grieg, Debussy, Bartok, and today's composers of brass ensemble music, such as John Cheetham and Eric Ewazen, are among their programming. Because the Brass Consortium is relatively small and very portable, it's easy to schedule a concert in your community. Contact us for more information.

Audio experience is better with headphones. Please note these are un-beautified, live, natural raw recordings.

About Brass Chamber Music

Chamber music, as opposed to grand orchestral, opera, and ballet performances, was meant to be performed in smaller, more intimate spaces - but feels equally at home in the concert hall. Its small size makes it perfect for any venue or audience. There are many types of chamber ensembles, but none are more sonorous and versatile than the brass quintet. Its combination of instruments allows for a complete range of music performance and the ensemble is convincing no matter the genre or style. Unlike large-ensemble performance, chamber musicians are solely reliant upon each other for balance, blend, and timing. They must be in constant nonverbal communication with each other. Because there is only one player per part, chamber ensembles require endurance, confidence, and teamwork like no other. The repertoire of the brass quintet spans six centuries, from the Renaissance to works composed within a few years ago - including original new music and artfully-crafted arrangements and transcriptions perfect for any occasion.  - rkp
